With a severe need for high quality rental housing within easy walking distance of Manchester city centre, Sigmat deployed design, manufacturing and installation expertise and a rapid build programme to deliver early occupation and return on investment to the developer.
XI Eastbank is an 8-storey, high-end residential development in central Manchester. Sigmat were contracted to design and install the complete building superstructure for the main contractor, Forrest.
Sigmat delivered the frame using Sigmat light gauge steel frames and a ground floor hot rolled steel podium transfer. This project created 111 new apartments – including one and two-bedroom apartments and penthouses.
The light gauge steel solution allowed an accelerated programme which ran from July to December 2015. It was well-managed throughout in a tight urban location and meant the client benefited from an earlier occupation and return upon investment.

This was our first project with Sigmat and I can say that it was a successful one. Their communication throughout was extremely positive and honest. The Sigmat Senior Site Manager and their ‘holiday cover’ Site Manager were not only professional but exemplary in work ethic and manner. The promises made by both during site and progress meetings were met. As for programme, I can report that this was achieved by Sigmat and Forrest were very impressed with the system and hope to repeat the experience with future suitable projects.
