Sigmat awarded first contract by Tolent on Vaux Brewery Project
Sigmat have been awarded the contract for a new residential scheme in Sunderland. The new Vaux neighbourhood, being built on the site of an old brewery, will eventually have 1,000 homes, according to the plans, as part of a drive to double the number of people living in the city centre.
Selected due to sustainability, cost, and speed of erection, Sigmat’s scope of works will deliver 2no blocks consisting of 25 apartments per block, and a total 3000sqm GIFA.
Vaux is one of four new communities that will take shape at Riverside. Construction work on the scheme is expected to start within weeks, forming the first of the new distinct neighbourhoods that will create city centre housing for up to 2,500 residents.
Commenting on the scheme, John Ritchie Sigmat’s Pre-Construction Manager, said “It is great to be working with the Tolent team to deliver sustainable housing in the region. We are delighted to see more main contractors embracing modern methods of construction helping to reduce the overall carbon footprint of the development”.
The Sigmat team are due on site mid-Autumn 2022 for a 32-week programme.
