Hannah Goddard is a currently on the Willmott Dixon Management Trainee Scheme, as part of her technical placement Hannah spent two months onsite with Sigmat. We sat down to chat to Hannah about her experience.
The Project
Hannah was based mainly at our Eastleigh site along with Sigmat Senior Site Manager Elwyn Williams.
“Elwyn was very knowledgeable and I really enjoyed being thrown in from the get go. I was able to manage some of my own areas of the site and Elwyn assured me that every task, great or small was important. Elwyn was so approachable, I was able to get such a deeper understanding of the steel framing on site process.”
The Experience
Although being onsite was Hannah's primary focus, we showed Hannah around every aspect of the company. She spoke with those from our design office, had a tour around the factory and met Sigmat's CEO.
“I thought the most interesting part of the Sigmat system was understanding and seeing first-hand the whole process from the Factory. I loved seeing how the steel comes in from coil rings, the Sigmat stud was formed and how the panels were assembled read for the site teams.”
Hannah also spent some time with Site Manager Jason Berry, who showed her around larger and smaller sites and though it was interesting to see how other sites of different sizes function up and down the country.
“Sigmat made me feel welcome from day one. I felt like a part of Team Sigmat from the moment they gave me branded PPE on the first day. I have learnt so much throughout this experience I would recommend other Willmott Dixon graduates to undertake their technical placement with Sigmat”.
