Home to Exeter Chiefs | Sigmat Appointed to Provide LGSF Structure for state-of-the-art 4* 250 bed Marriott Hotel
Sigmat are delighted to have been selected as the Light Gauge Steel Framing provider for the upcoming 4* Courtyard by Marriott Hotel at Exeter Chief’s Sandy Park Rugby Ground. The hotel, situated adjacent to Exeter Chief’s home ground, marks the next stage in development of Exeter’s award-winning Sandy Park complex.
Expected to be the biggest commercial hotel this side of Bristol, in addition to housing 250 bedrooms the eight-storey hotel situated off Old Rydon Lane will provide leisure facilities on the ground floor, as well as a rooftop cocktail bar and restaurant that boasts picturesque views along the River Exe Estuary.
Early stages of work are already in progress and the Sigmat team are due on site at the end of June. Sigmat will be providing an all-encompassing solution; 4-levels of hot rolled steel transfer structure with Sigmat’s own SFS infill, 5-levels of Sigmat Light Gauge Steel Framing with Sigmat proprietary SigDeck 180mm decking throughout the whole scheme, including provision of roofing, lift / stair cores and staircases.
Additionally, Sigmat will be providing the structure for a unique glazed link bridge, 4-storeys high, from the hotel’s extensive reception area to Sandy Park, allowing guests easy access to the stadium during match days.
Sigmat’s CEO, Mark Eburne, commented “We are delighted to be working with Exeter Chiefs on this upcoming investment to develop Sandy Park. It is an exciting project for us, our panelised LGSF system, provision of SFS and SigDeck from our rapidly growing Building Products Division, along with the unique link bridge demonstrates Sigmat’s range of capabilities. It’s encouraging to see large scale projects embracing modern methods of construction more widely.”
The Sigmat team will be on site for 40 weeks from the end of June, with the hotel due to open to the public in December 2021. Sigmat will supply an end-to-end solution with all required design & detailing, manufacturing the LGSF panels at their Leeds Manufacturing Facility, and installation on site.
