McCarthy and Stone, the UK’s leading developer and manager of retirement communities, has appointed Sigmat to provide the Light Gauge Steel Frame for their upcoming development in Hexham.
The development, named Hewson Court, will comprise of 31 one-bed and 17 two-bed luxury retirement apartments. The development will feature a communal lounge which opens onto a seated patio area and garden, ideal for enjoying a catch-up with friends and neighbours; and a guest suite, which will be available for when family members and friends come to stay.
McCarthy & Stone is one of only a handful of volume housebuilders to make a major commitment to offsite manufacturing, harnessing the advantages of MMC and in particular LGSF, benefitting from faster construction time. Offsite methods also offer increased levels of build quality thanks to the consistency and control achieved in factories compared with traditional methods of construction.
Sigmat COO, Marcus Wood, commented “We’re delighted to be working on our second project with McCarthy & Stone in Hexham. It is great to see such an established housebuilder commit to offsite construction and we support their initiative to embrace MMC. I look forward to working with McCarthy & Stone on more projects down the line.”
The Sigmat team are due on-site quarter 4 of 2020 with a 12 week on site build schedule.
